Week 1

You remember waking up naked, covered in some kind of clear goop, with men in lab coats looking at you. There's a massive machine to the side of you, with pipes in odd ways you know shouldn't be possible, and yet.... One of the men in the coats steps forward with a syringe, and despite your weak struggling, plunges it into the side of your neck. Everything gets blurry and goes white...

Week 2

You’re fairly certain the man who you’re about to go on this mission with would rather not be here. Truth be told, you’d rather not be here either - but orders are orders, and The Foundation makes it clear that going against those orders will quickly get you terminated.

You don’t know why they don’t just use ‘killed’. Terminated must just sound more clinical.

As you wait with the man, you find yourself chatting about your Star Children, back on your world. At first, he looks bored - but as you keep talking, you see he starts to straighten up, then look somewhat concerned as you talk about your veritable 2 and a half football teams worth of children.

“Are you...okay? Like….everything’s still...working fine?” He asks, looking, well, pale.

You tell him yes, and he looks like he’s about to cry.

Week 3

[personal profile] duskhound 2018-12-10 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You were a bit wary to be sent on a field mission, especially when you heard the words ‘DANGEROUS’ and ‘HIGH CASUALTY’. Why would they be sending you there? You don’t really think you can be of much help in these kinds of fights between extremely powerful SCPs and highly trained Foundation agents. You’re too new at this job.

Then you heard that you would be assisting a doctor, and you felt a bit better about it. Taking care of sick people is difficult, but caring for someone who needs support and healing is much better than fighting. You even heard that Minato would be going with you as well! He’s a nice one. You haven’t worked with him on a mission before, but you have seen him around the facility before and he seems like a good person. Maybe this won’t be so bad after all.

But then you get to the location, and you realize just how wrong you were.

“It’s really quite simple,” The Medic says as he indicates to one of the bodies left behind in the field, “As we can see here, this mark was the initial contact spot, and the reaction continued from there-” He reaches out and actually touches the thing, and you swear you can feel your stomach turn even more than it has before, “-to there. And from there, the result is as you can see. Quite fascinating, isn’t it?”

No, it’s not fascinating. It’s horrifying, and you feel like you’re about to be sick. In fact- “I think I’m going to be sick.”

Minato, on the other hand, gives this crazy doctor a thumbs-up. Which seems to satisfy The Medic, who returns to his work of talking and messing with bodies.

Then Minato leaves the doctor to his body-wrangling while he discreetly navigates you away from the majority of the mess. “You can request a transfer when we get back to base,” Minato says quietly.

You’re just grateful that someone else is here to confirm that you’re not going crazy.

Assignment in question was cleanup detail after a containment procedure for SCP-722. The symptoms of SCP-722's poison are largely random, but always fatal: The poison itself deteriorates rapidly once outside the host, which is why it's fine for Medic to touch it like that. Probably.

...Well, he's not dead, so obviously he's not affected by it?

Week 4

[personal profile] duskhound 2018-12-17 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Once you had all settled in the auditorium, a slim man with immaculately styled bubblegum pink hair and bone-rimmed glasses walks in. He is wearing a lab coat with the Foundation’s logo, as well as another (http://scp-wiki.wdfiles.com/local--resized-images/task-forces/Lambda5.png/small.jpg) patch. It looks like a rabbit? Sort of? Regardless, the man has a theatrical air to him, and he gesticulates quite a bit as he speaks.

"Greeting, D-class personnel. My name is Dr. Szayelaporro Granz, researcher class C. You have all been selected, either personally by myself and Dr. Kurotsuchi, or by random chance, to accompany me on this field mission. Aren’t you all so lucky?" the man smiles and clasps his hands together, though the smile doesn’t reach his eyes. "I am also from SCP-6350, so let’s all work hard together, hm?"
He clicks something in his pocket, turning on a slideshow with what little information they have. He clicks through the bare-bones presentation as he speaks.

"The location we will be researching is a space-time anomaly known as ‘The Resort’. This location is a fancy ski chalet that moves around randomly, and thus far has eluded our attempts to contain it, or even properly research it. Recording equipment and drones have all proven worthless inside this anomaly. The Foundation have dispatched live staff here before, only for them to be lost. While our main goal is to find a way to secure and contain this anomaly, you may also consider a secondary objective to be rescue... or recovery, as the case may be. The Resort currently has an active zone in the Canadian Rockies, and that is where we will be entering. Once we go in, it will be up to all of you to unlock its secrets. So if you have any business to attend to... I suggest you do it soon. This mission may last several months."

He adjusts his glasses, then turns off the slide show. He opens his arms in a flamboyant gesture and an all too wide smile splits his face.

"Further information will be provided to you in a written dossier, my little actors and actresses! But for now, you know as much as I do. Thank you for your attention, and welcome to Mobile Task Force Lambda-5-b, the ‘Fictional White Rabbits’!"

The memory fades out as you all sit in uncomfortable silence...

Week 5

[personal profile] duskhound 2018-12-24 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
“They are beginning to rebel,” they told you, “They think they can get out of here if they fight for it. You need to put a stop to it.”

You agreed, of course. Because it’s an order from a higher-up, and you cannot ignore that. Crush this tiny rebellion among the D-class agents before they can gather the numbers to be more dangerous than they are. Stamp out any fires before they become infernos.

“Hey, Ellie! Perfect timing!”

You look up. It’s a familiar face, one of your new friends here. You two went on mission together about six weeks ago, and he makes an effort to seek you out whenever the two of you are back on base. Currently he is holding up a DVD. “It’s movie night, are you joining us?”

“Perhaps,” you say, “Who is going to be there?”

“Oh, just the usual crowd. Me, Caithe, Poe, Nana, maybe Ginny if we can convince her to come. You want in? I managed to grab ‘Sharknado’ for our viewing pleasure tonight.”

Five people, all ones you have gotten friendly with. With a bit more time, you might even call them ‘friends’, if such a thing can be made within the Foundation.

All named on your list, handed down by an O5.

“Sure,” you say finally, “I’ll come.”

Much later, you scrub your hands so raw that you have to go to the medical ward to get them treated. You suspect they will never be clean, though. No soap is strong enough to clean this mess out of your memory.
