Well, you also have to consider that as far as the blue fuzzy guest said, this mafia thing was never done before we showed up. It's likely that the entire mafia thing is happening because the resort's sick. It might not know what it's trying to achieve by doing it either.
I suppose it's possible that someone else is behind it, but if there's someone else manipulating things, I haven't seen any signs of them.

Trapped inside a resort that feeds off of positive emotions definitely isn't a way I would have expected to spend the holidays, either.
